About Ed Stone
Living and working on a comparatively small boat (40 feet) in a harbor of Vancouver provides me with a
couple of important inspirations. The first one is to get off the boat as much as I can! And that
keeps me out where the sights and colors of all the surrounding nature are always right in front of me.
What I (or anyone else who lives or visits here) see provides plenty of the second inspiration. It's easy
to do art here.
About the sculptures
Every piece you see on this site is a signed original done by me. While I get lots of help on the side
issues -- bookkeepping, shipping, supplies and such -- the torches and tools are in my hands. They are
made from the best quality metals and effectors I can find. Decades of thought goes into every piece.
The sculptures you see probably do not look flat. They aren't. They are constructed in layers, usually
three. While some parts may touch the wall, most will stand out as much as an inch or two (2 to 5 cm).
The treatments that give the metals their unique color combinations are permanent. In most cases, they are
caused by actual physical/chemical changes in the metals.
Although permanent, the sculptures are real metal -- they will react to their enviroment, changing over time
to get in balance with their surroundings. These changes are natural and for the most part up to the laws of
physics.

CALL ANYTIME: The number over there on the left will find me almost any time. I seldom keep 9-to-5 schedules,
so don't be shy about calling at odd hours. I check voicemail once a day, so please allow 24 hours for me to
respond. And be sure to leave your phone number!
SEND ME A NOTE: If you like writing out your thoughts and having them walk to me, mail will reach me best at
4533 West 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC, Canada, V6R2A4 (if you are not used to Canadian postal codes, now you have a
reason to write one down). Unless you really hate phone calls, include a phone number and the best time to call.
Mail has been taking about a week from most of North America and longer from elsewhere, so please be patient.
VIA PAYPAL: You can contaact us through PayPal. Just go to www.PayPal.com and
RETURNS: There are about a million standards/laws for how to handle this. We keep it simple: if you send
it back to us in the same condition we sent it to you, you get your money back. So far, we haven't had to
figure out the details because we have never had one come back. I assume, as long as we treat you right,
we will be able to keep that string going. We have had some exchanges. If that matches your needs, call
and we will work out a switch.
